Comparative study of price rise during UPA Govt (2004-2014) and NDA Govt(2014-2024)

Mumbai: 2024/04/25: Rise of Price in ten year regime of UPA or Manmohan Govt during year 2004 to 2014 and in ten year regime of NDA or Narendra Bhai Modi Govt during year 2014 to 2024 .

In the year 2004, flour was Rs 10 per kg. In the year 2014 it became Rs 21 per kg. In the year 2024 it became Rs 37 per kg. Thus, in the 10 years of Manmohan, inflation increased by 110 percent whereas in the 10 years of Modi, it increased by 81 percent.

In the year 2004, pulses were priced at Rs 28 per kg. In the year 2014 it became Rs 73 per kg. In the year 2024 it became Rs 140 per kg. In this way, inflation increased by 161 percent in the 10 years of Manmohan, whereas it increased by 92 percent in the 10 years of Modi.

In the year 2004, mustard oil was Rs 50 per kg. In the year 2014 it became Rs 101 per kg. In the year 2024 it became Rs 148 per kg. Thus, in the 10 years of Manmohan, inflation increased by 101 percent whereas in the 10 years of Modi, it increased by 47 percent.

In the year 2004, milk was priced at Rs 16 per litre. In the year 2014 it became Rs 40 per litre. It it became Rs 66 per liter in the year 2024. Thus, in the 10 years of Manmohan, inflation increased by 161 percent whereas in the 10 years of Modi, it increased by 92 percent.

In the year 2004, rice was Rs 12 per kg. In the year 2014 it became Rs 29 per kg. In the year 2024 it became Rs 37 per kg. Thus, in the 10 years of Manmohan, inflation increased by 142 percent whereas in the 10 years of Modi, it increased by 38 percent.
In the year 2004, sugar was Rs 17 per kg. In the year 2014 it became Rs 36 per kg. It became Rs 40 per kg in the year 2024. Thus, in the 10 years of Manmohan, inflation increased by 103 percent whereas in the 10 years of Modi, it increased by 11 percent.
In the year 2004, egg was priced at Rs 20 per dozen. In the year 2014 it became Rs 60 per dozen. In the year 2024, it became 84 per dozen. In this way, inflation increased by 200 percent in the 10 years of Manmohan, whereas it increased by 40 percent in the 10 years of Modi.
In the year 2004, cement was Rs 125 per bag. In the year 2014 it became Rs 330 per bag. In the year 2024 it became Rs 360 per bag. In this way, inflation increased by 200 percent in the 10 years of Manmohan, whereas it increased by 10 percent in the 10 years of Modi.
In the year 2004, brick was priced at Rs 1.80 per piece. In the year 2014 it became Rs 7.00 per piece. In the year 2024 it became Rs 7.25 per piece. Thus, in the 10 years of Manmohan, inflation increased by 300 percent whereas in the 10 years of Modi, it increased by 1 percent.
In the year 2004, iron rod was priced at Rs 23 per kg. In the year 2014 it became Rs 46 per kg. In the year 2024 it became Rs 66 per kg. In this way, inflation increased by 100 percent in the 10 years of Manmohan, whereas it increased by 50 percent in the 10 years of Modi.
When Vajpayee’s tenure ended in 2004, home loans were at 7 percent. In Manmohan period it became 13 percent. During the Modi era it is again reduced to 9 percent.
